STATE is an international network of students and educators committed to integrating creativity and consciousness studies into higher education.
Vision of STATE
Recent years have seen increasing appeals for education to cultivate a broader type of personal development. Creativity, self-awareness, compassion, self-sufficiency, social awareness, service, and heightened interpersonal skills are among the qualities reformers commonly identify as central to any adequate educational models for our times. Transpersonal education addresses these areas through an expanded spectrum of experiences that includes meditation, contemplative inquiry, creative arts, movement, community service and engagement, as well as conventional learning modalities. By penetrating to the transcendent underpinnings of human consciousness, students are able to engage in a wide range of new and traditional academic pursuits with heightened awareness, creativity, and passion.
Few would deny that our world is beset by an unprecedented array of ecological, economic, social and political problems. By acknowledging that we cannot change our outer world unless we change within ourselves, STATE advocates a new educational paradigm that both fulfills individual needs and addresses the challenges of our times
